Clinical Mental Health Counseling Grand Canyon University My grandmother who helped raise me, always said,
"I'm doing the best I can, with what I got" -Betty McIntosh I never quite understood her words until losing her in 2022, but this saying has taught me the importance of self-preservation, resilience, and personal growth and development. |
I embarked on my academic journey at Colorado State University, where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration and Management in 2016. This foundational education equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems, management strategies, and the intricacies of health administration; setting the stage for my future endeavors in mental health counseling. I further advance my expertise by earning a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. During my studies, I dedicated myself to specializing in Family and Marriage Counseling, driven by my passion for supporting families and couples through life’s challenges. My coursework and experiences at Grand Canyon University honed my skills in addressing the complex dynamics within familial and marital relationships.
A proponent of evidence-based practices, I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to name a few, and strive to utilize evidenced based theories such as John Gottman's Four Horsemen with my clients. This training has enabled me to effectively employ CBT techniques in counseling sessions, helping clients understand and reframe their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My counseling approach is characterized by empathy, active listening, and a collaborative mindset, in which I tailor strategies that align with clients' unique needs and goals. By integrating knowledge of health administration and my specialization in family and marriage counseling, I aim to create a holistic approach to mental health, considering a clients emotional well-being, as well as systemic factors. I am not only a counselor, but a compassionate advocate for mental well-being, bringing together academic achievements, specialized training, and genuine care to produce a lasting impact in the field of mental health counseling. |
